a social space for open communication about work and life at the U of MN
What can we do with this "ning"?
I see lots of potential for this website. The main purpose is to provide a hub for connecting the disparate groups and individuals that are involved in various struggles for economic, social, and political equality and justice at the U of M. The "ning" has a lot of cool features for facilitating our network. Here are some ideas I've had so far...
1) You can make or join a group for each of the projects you are involved in (e.g., I made one for EXCO, the newsletter, and my political science department grad student self-governance collective). My hope is that this can be an organizing tool to enable workers' self-governance in the various departments and areas of the U (especially if you don't have a face-to-face organization yet, this could be a way to start one).
2) Once lots of us sign up here, this can be a good way to communicate with each other about various issues of common concern. We can use the discussion forum (as I'm doing right now) to talk about key questions of strategy and goals for our organizing efforts. Also, we can have more focused discussions within the individual groups.
3) We can use this site to get more people involved. It's like 'facebook' for real social change. So, please send out invites to everyone you know!
